I have been a quilter since 1983 and did all my piecing and quilting by hand. I learned when we used cardboard and plastic as templates. No rotary cutter!! My how quilting has changed. An Amish woman in PA was my teacher. She taught me nothing is perfect, just do your best and the Lord will take care of the rest. What a philosophy…one that I truly believe and try to apply to my life as well.
I'm a professional long arm / hand quilter. I love doing both. I am now taking long distance orders hence the web site. I continue to quilt for my local CO customers and now have picked up some quilt pattern designers to quilt their designs. I love to embellish my own quilts with beads and trims. Embroidery is also one of my favorites this is why I offer CrabAppleHill patterns and the African Embroidery. This world of embellishments and art quilts has blossomed over the past 10 yrs. I am now a Sulky Certified Teacher and locally will teach classes to learn their products in addition to their threads. Watch the website for details on these classes. Oh...this is Stitch & Bobbin (in the basket) they rule the house. Can't you tell?
II have been teaching classes, both private lessons and in quilt shops. I love teaching and recently started a new job being a teacher assistant for special needs children.
I hope you like the patterns, embellishments, and items for sale. I have plans to bring on board some items that are made by some great designers. We will have a designer page where you can special order from some up and coming designers. I am also offering hand-dyed floss from Africa to benefit the women who need work in Africa. Some of the proceeds will go to help the AIDS patients in Africa . I am only offering items that I feel aren't getting the recognition from the quilt shops; new stuff, stuff that I find at market when I go. SO…send along your suggestions and let's show the world that new ideas are fun!
Local classes will be listed soon ~ I'll be teaching in Parker and in Denver at some great sewing machine shops. Sign up for the newsletter and be sure to read "Billie's Threads" each month.
I will also be offering some thoughts on vintage and antique quilts and some great finds I come across on my Colorado Quilt Documentations.
