Summertime

Don't you just love it? I do, I spent the day working outside soaking up plenty of Vitamin D from the sunshine! I played in dirt, planted flowers and sprayed off the dirt from the winter. It was fantastic! Quilting is always put aside for the summer, when we take the time to enjoy the outdoors. I especially take the month of June here in Colorado and enjoy the out doors. I love to watch the birds at my feeder and sit on my patio and READ. Yep, that's what I do. I don't read much in the winter, I sew. But June, I start a new novel. Guess what that novel is about? Yep, you got it “quilting”. Do you know how many books there are on quilting? No, I don't mean quilt pattern books, but novels.

Just do a search and check it out. I have my favorites, but I won't mention all of them. That's your homework. Go to the library and check them out. I read one novel, and then I read one of my historical books. I love to read about the different states that have done their documentations. I read about the history that has happened with all the quilts. I have a few of my own. I own many vintage quilts, which I cherish. One quilt, has C & H Sugar bags on the back! That one is my favorite! I have quilts from the civil war era, quilts that were made by some wonderful quilters. Go to the library and spend the summer reading about quilt history and before you know it will be fall and those sewing machines will be humming again! Oh, do not worry once the July heat comes, I am back in the studio with the air conditioning, but come early evening I am back on that patio enjoying my iced tea and reading again. Enjoy the summer!
